University of Alabama Police Investigating Student Death as Apparent Suicide


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Police Department has launched an investigation following the death of a student on campus Monday morning.

According to a statement from university police, officers responded after a student was found deceased in what is being investigated as an apparent suicide. The identity of the student has not been released, pending notification of family.

University officials said support services are being made available to students, faculty, and staff affected by the loss. The University Counseling Center and Employee Assistance Program are offering grief counseling and mental health resources.

“The University of Alabama community is deeply saddened by this tragedy,” the statement read. “Our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Authorities have not released additional details as the investigation remains ongoing.
